In September 2024 Mattila got new hosts ~ Mattila's hostesses. We are Heidi and Laura, originally from the small municipality of Merijärvi in Northern Ostrobothnia, who were brought to Koli by life. Mattila has already become familiar to us as a visitor over the past ten years and the place has already become very important to us. It was an honour to be able to step in and take good care of the Mattila farm.

We are fortunate and grateful to be part of the continuity of this place of cultural history. You know, there are ancient, rooted energies here. It's good to be here. In the midst of the serenity of a national park, we offer nature-oriented accommodation and event services while respecting our cultural heritage. We want to play our part in creating a soothing, natural and life-affirming experience for every visitor in Koli's Mattila. You can come to us just as you are and take a breather from the daily grind!

Our yard includes the main building, a barn, a sauna building, a well and dry toilets. The ruins of an old barn are on the west side of the yard. To the north of the house is a chicken coop and pastures with enclosures. The farm includes 3,2 hectares of old fields and meadows. The fenced pasture area is used for summer landscaping by both the eastern Finnish cattle and the sheep. The rest of the area is mown by human labour. In the summer you can see chickens chattering in our yard. The daily care of the animals is taken care of by the people of Mattila in Koli. In the yard we grow useful plants and flowers for our guesthouse. The latest burnt birch trees and birch fields for the next few years are located right next to the Mattila and Ollila farms.
